Chinghiz Torekulovich Aitmatov (as transliterated from Russian; Kyrgyz: Чыңгыз Төрөкулович Айтматов) was a Kyrgyz author who wrote mainly in Russian, but also in Kyrgyz. He is one of the best known figures in Kyrgyzstan's literature.
