**Henry Grattan Guinness**, D.D., F.R.A.S. (born in Kingstown In Taney, Dublin, Ireland) was an Irish Protestant Christian preacher, evangelist and author. In 1860 to 1898, he was married to [Fanny Emma Fitzgerald (1831-1898)][1]. Mr. Guinness devoted his life to the training of missionaries, especially for work in regions unvisited at that time. He established the Missionary Training Institutes *Harley College*, Bromley-by-Bow, for men, later known as *Hulme Cliff College*, and *Doric Lodge*, for women, later the *Livingstone Inland Mission*, the *Congo-Balolo Mission*, and the *Regions Beyond Missionary Union*. He also took a deep interest in science, especially in Astronomy and the subject of ancient Chronology. [1]: http://openlibrary.org/authors/OL2494432A/ [2]: http://openlibrary.org/authors/OL2557710A/
