
Erika Bourguignon
ERIKA BOURGUIGNON (1924–2015) was professor and chair of the Department of Anthropology at The Ohio State University, where she taught for more than 40 years. She is best known for her contributions to psychological anthropology, anthropology of religion, and the anthropology of women. Bourguignon published seven books and hundreds of professional articles about a variety of subjects such as altered states of consciousness, trance, vodou, religion, social change, women’s roles, the Holocaust, and memory studies.
