Tom Hatley, a scholar of Revolutionary War-era Native American history, joined WCU’s faculty as the Sequoyah Professor in 2002. Hatley earned his doctoral degree in colonial/environmental history at Duke University, a master’s degree in forest science at Yale University, a master’s degree in history at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a bachelor’s degree at Davidson College.
