The figure of personified Wisdom made its first appearance in postexilic Wisdom literature, but it would be a mistake to regard it as isolated within the period, for despite its late appearance this figure is firmly established within Israel's whole tradition of written wisdom, which is of course older and was recorded primarily in the central and principal section of the book of Proverbs (chs. 10-30).
