"After Jorge Eduardo Arellano, Urbina is one of the better (and among the very few) interpreters of nonpolitical Nicaraguan literature. This work focuses on the conventional novel. His approach is predominantly narratological, and despite the formal limits of that methodology, Urbina's solid knowledge of Nicaraguan literary history rescues many 1920s and 1930s novels.
