Die Geschichte deutscher Museen im Nationalsozialismus ist ein spannendes und in vielen Fällen noch unbeleuchtetes Feld. Für das Kunstmuseum Stuttgart ? seit 2005 in einem signifikanten Glaswürfel im Zentrum der Stadt beheimatet ? trifft dieser Umstand nun nicht mehr zu. Der bisher weitgehend unbekannten Geschichte des Museums während der NS-Zeit kommt ein besonderer Rang zu, waren es doch die Nationalsozialisten, die die musealen Grundlagen für die erst 1924 gegründete städtische Kunstsammlung legten.
