Description
The Brazos River Authority, established by law in 1929, was the first state agency in this country to be given jurisdiction over the waters of an entire river basin. Its creation served as a pattern for subsequent actions by the states and the federal government. Originally intended to provide for flood control, the Authority has, during the past fifty years, become a multi-purpose agency with broad based powers and responsibilities.
