Turgut Reis has a name which comes to mind first in the history of Turkish Maritime. He served significantly for extension and protection of Ottoman sovereignty in the Mediterrenean Sea by piracy, warriorship and conquest. Although this, some parts of Turgut Reis’s life story are still expected to be revealed. The question of where Turgut Reis was born and where this place is today has to be argued in an academic way.
