Description

In 2009, during the patronal festivities of Charapan, a Tarasco town in the state of Michoacán, an exhibition was organized by the state government with photographs taken 35 years before (1973 and 1974) by the two authors, researchers of INAH. This catalog reproduces these and other images that portray the Purepecha people and their customs, an ethnographic corpus that constitutes a fragment of the social history of Charapan. "This catalog includes images, that for one reason or another, were left out of the exhibition. This way, we now have the complete body of work. The originals of some pieces were color slides that we preferred to present in black and white, for a more adequate emphasis of this publication" (HKB Translation) --Page 11.
