Le présent ouvrage lève un coin de voile sur la brève voie créatrice de Maria Iacoutchikova (1870-1902). Si dans sa production beaucoup de choses imaginées ne furent pas réalisées, elle parvint à créer suffisamment pour laisser une grande trace dans l'art russe. Son itinéraire, construit depuis des points de contact avec les maîtres du Monde de l'art russe, son anticipation de certaines tendances, liées notamment au cercle des peintres de La rose bleue, hisse la jeune femme, tôt emportée par la tuberculose en 1902, comme l'exécutante d'un oeuvre pictural empreint d'une grande beauté spirituelle.
