La mystique « rhéno-flamande » regroupe deux ensembles, puisant aux mèmes sources mais allant parfois dans des directions opposées : une tradition « allemande », représentée essentiellement par les dominicains Maître Eckhart, Henri Suso et Jean Tauler ; et une tradition « flamande », illustrée par la béguine Hadewijch d'Anvers et par Jan van Ruusbroec. Cet ouvrage traite de quelques aspects majeurs de la recherche actuelle sur ces auteurs.
