For Fausto Melotti drawing was fundamental because it was the uninterrupted leitmotif of his whole artistic activity from the 1920s to the 1980s.0The occasion for focussing on Melotti's drawing in this book has been offered by the very recent acquisition by the Tonelli family of an extremely homogenous group of twenty drawings: seventeen of these were used for the publication of the two collections of the artist's aphorisms - both titled 'Linee' (1975 and 1978) - issued by the Adelphi publishing house.0This book, edited by Marco Meneguzzo, offers collectors, scholars and art lovers a historical-critical tool, one based on an analysis of this particular group of drawings and on a comparison with other drawings and sculptures, in a search for themes and styles they have in common or that are unique to the particular drawings and the sculptures.
