Vor 17 Jahren vermachte die Marburger Unternehmerin Hilde Eitel (1915 - 2010) ihre Kunstsammlung dem Marburger Universitätsbund in der Absicht, dass diese nach ihrem Tod im Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte ausgestellt werde. Seit den 1950er-Jahren erwarb sie Kunst der Nachkriegsjahre - darunter knapp 60 Werke, die nun den Bestand des Marburger Museums ergänzen. Gemälde, Papierarbeiten und Skulpturen sowie Plastiken etwa von Josef Albers, Jean Dubuffet, Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, Piero Manzoni und der deutschen Zero-Gruppe, von Giorgio Morandi, Ernst Wilhelm Nay und Wols spannen einen Bogen vom abstrakten Expressionismus und Informel zur monochromen Malerei und Zero-Kunst.
