Description
In response to collectors' demand for "more Prussia!" Mary Frank Gaston has written a completely new edition of her popular Collector's Encyclopedia of R.S. Prussia. Important new historical information regarding the Schlegelmilch porcelain factories is presented, and the Marks section has been expanded to include additional factory back stamps as well as several recently discovered marks. The innovative RSP Mold Identification System introduced in the first series has been continued, and many new RSP molds have been added to the categories. Beautiful full-color photographs once again illustrate the hypnotic attraction of the coveted "red mark" R.S. Prussia china. To accommodate the increasing interest in porcelain with other Schlegelmilch marks (Royal Saxe, Prov Sxe, ES Germany, RS Germany, RS Suhl, RS Poland, etc.), a larger number of examples are featured. A selection of the scarce wares of Oscar Schlegelmilch is also shown in this second series. Current price ranges are quoted for all items.
First Sentence
"When I was preparing my first book on Schlegelmilch porcelain (The Collector's Encyclopedia of R.S. Prussia and R.S. and E.S. Porcelain, 1982), the only documented dates about the companies were when they were founded: Erdmann Schlegelmilch's porcelain factory was established in Suhl, Thuringia in 1861; and Reinhold Schlegelmilch's china factory was founded in Tillowitz, Silesia, in 1869."
