Description

As more people settled into the great plains of Alberta, lawlessness arose there too. Cattle rustlers and horse thieves preyed on the settlers, sometimes joined by displaced Natives who had little to lose. Canada responded with the "Scarlet Patrol", men known for their courage and loyalty. After a three-day patrol, Corporal Rand headed back to his post at Gull Creek. Coming over a rise, he spotted two men with several downed cattle. Once the men were alerted by the sounds of Corporal Rand's horse, they took to their heels, leaving the evidence hehind them: two cattle with their legs bound, a branding iron and a fire to heat the iron. Rustlers! Just then, a second group of men came over the rise -- they were men from the Bar 2 Ranch looking for missing cattle and they were sure they'd caught the thief redhanded.
