First Sentence

Late in 1947 the news reached us that Segovia was to give a recital for the Bradford Music Society, whereupon members of the Manchester Guitar Circle hired a Rolls Royce, which seemed appropriate to the occasion, and were driven in style across the wintry moors to partake of the Ultimate Experience; the Sounds were to reach us without the intervention of gramophone or radio, and their maker was to become incarnate.
