Description

The Rand Health Insurance Study (HIS) will use data on the presence and disease impact of peptic ulcer disease to study the effect of different levels of insurance on health status and quality of care. This condition was chosen for intensive study for three reasons: (1) moderate prevalence; (2) potential for serious complications; and (3) responsiveness to surgical or medical treatments.
