Description
Stories about artists and writers who created the first really funny greeting cards in the 1950s thru 1990. Mostly about people at Hallmark and American Greetings where the author worked. But also about some of the early pioneers at small companies such as Box Cards, Panda Prints, Recycled Paper Greetings and others. Many reproductions of cartoon greeting cards, and original cartoon illustrations specifically drawn for the book. Studio cards have nearly disappeared since the emergence of "alternative humor" at the Hallmark and American Greetings in 1987. The same sort of humor, but in a nearly square shape rather than in a tall thin rectangle.
First Sentence
There were few funny greeting cards before 1946.
