Description
Toen Leo Vroman op 22 februari 2014 stierf, lagen op zijn werkkamer drie mappen met het opschrift 'Die vleugels II'. In 2013 is 'Die vleugels' verschenen, zijn gedichten tot de zomer van 2012, maar alles wat hij daarna schreef hoorde daar zijns inziens nog bij. Die gedichten verschijnen nu: het finale werk. Stap voor stap treedt de dood erin naderbij, totdat hij aanklopt en Vroman zijn allerlaatste gedicht schrijft, op 10 februari: 'Einde'. De bundel verschijnt op 10 april 2015, de dag waarop Vroman honderd jaar zou zijn geworden. In zijn geboorteplaats Gouda gaat dan de manifestatie Vroman 100 van start, waarbij onder meer een beeld van Vroman door Jeroen Henneman wordt onthuld en een reizende tentoonstelling van Vromans beeldend werk wordt geopend.
