Description

Siobhan Burke, who taught Barnard's Dance Criticism in Spring 2021, compiles a class anthology of student work pertaining to the class, offering extra credit for their submissions. The zine includes reflections, reviews and essays on dance films, Tik Tok dances, the artistry of individual dancers, and the simple or spectacular dances of daily life. The students use poetry, non-fiction writing, drawings and photographs to share their perspectives on topics inspired by the following videos: "Eiko Otake, A Body in Hong Kong," "The Nicholas Brother in Stormy Weather," "'Riverdance' at the Eurovision Song Contest," and "UFly Mothership (Tendayi Kuumba and Greg Purnell), U.F.O.:"The Mixtape" "and FKA Twigs’ pole performances. –Grace Li
