Description

The human corporeality, of which sexuality is a fundamental issue arises as a research topic in various disciplines. But despite the efforts of analytical sociology, biology, philosophy, history and theology, it remains largely a mystery. You can get closer to its essence only through a study of the various links that are intertwined in the complex mystery of human existence. The contributions presented in this volume deal with the relationship is not always easy, but fundamental, between religion and experience of the divine on the one hand, and corporeality and sexuality physically and practically lived on the other. In their variety of perspectives, they reveal some interesting scenarios showing that these issues are not disconnected from each other, but intertwined in so many ways in the intersection between religion, society and the individual body. The essays are the result of reflections matured in a laboratory context of rigorous thought and free of preconceptions, an open space development on issues of gender studies, religious and theological disciplines related to that for about ten years, the Bruno Kessler Foundation - Center for Religious Studies has launched as part of its research activities, including the seminar Gender, Sexuality, Religion, held in Trento in 2008.
