Description
"Close Encounters is a unique collection of twenty profiles of prominent Israeli writers, including Agnon, Yehuda Amichai, Aaron Appelfeld, Amos Oz, A. B. Yehoshua, David Grossman, Meir Shalev, Orly Castel-Bloom and Dorit Rabinyan. It is a first of its kind; each profile is based upon interviews and research, and provides intimate background to each writer and their work. Together, the twenty Close Encounters create a panorama of the Israeli experience - Diaspora, Holocaust, immigration, gender, the tension between religious and secular, Sephardi and Ashkenazi, Jews and Arabs."--BOOK JACKET.
