The health interview survey is conducted annually and contains information on distribution of illness, its effects in terms of disability, and the kind of health services received. This "core" file cumulates some of the variables in the health interview surveys for the years 1969-1981. The following criteria were selected: The respondents age of 30 or more, information on a variable available for at least 8 years, variables selected only once, and chronic health conditions.
