Description
Ginther studierte an der Wiener Kunstgewerbeschule bei Josef Hoffmann, dem Gründer der Wiener Werkstätte. Wie dieser widmete sich Ginther zeitlebens sämtlichen Aufgabengebieten des Alltagslebens, von technischen Apparaten und Häusern bis zu kunstgewerblichen Objekten und der bildenden Kunst. Eine besondere Facette verleiht seinem Leben der Aufenthalt in der Türkei unter der Regierung Kemal Atatürks. Ginther war ab 1929 als Lehrer an der Akademie der schönen Künste in Istanbul tätig, um dort die Abteilung für Innenausbau und Kunstgewerbe aufzubauen. Er zählte somit zu den damals in der laizistischen Republik tätigen deutschsprachigen Architekten, zu denen international bedeutsame Künstler gehörten, wie Clemens Holzmeister, Bruno Taut und Martin Elsässer.
