Description
When, disappointed and deceived, a young doctor of science and artist Pavle Kafadar called Paško decides to expose and destroy the career of the eminent professor Josip Grga Karaman and he has no idea that he will start an avalanche of events. Deceived and desperate, Paško knows that the truth about the professor and his murky actions must become public and that is only possible if a crime that did not happen happens. In his carefully thought-out plan, Paško includes redicules from Split, "torcidaše", defenders and so on, but things soon get out of his control. What seemed like an ideal opportunity for revenge becomes a mirror of Split and its elite, and a real crimes from the 1990s come to light. Paško and his love for one woman and his inability to achieve his ambitions with his work and knowledge, to live a life worthy of a man, lead him to madness, and his rebellion against the system becomes a rebellion accepted by others. ***Južina*** is a novel in which the spirit of the Mediterranean is felt, but also the harshness and cruelty inherent in our time, which does not like and does not tolerate losers. ***Južina*** is a magnificent novel about Split and the greatest dedication to its redicules, a novel that can be read as a tense crime story, as an intimate love novel, as a book about rebellion and resistance and as a different dedication to Split.
