Frank Gehry und Hans Scharoun sind einander nie begegnet ? und doch sind zwei ihrer berühmtesten Bauwerke aufs Engste miteinander verknüpft: Die Walt Disney Concert Hall von Gehry in Los Angeles (2003) und die Berliner Philharmonie von Scharoun (1963). Der expressionistische Ansatz Scharouns lieferte die Inspiration für Gehrys dekonstruktivistische Formensprache in Los Angeles. Scharouns Einfluss auf Gehry ? nicht nur der gebauten Werke, sondern auch seiner visionären Architekturphantasien ? und Gehrys anhaltende Beschäftigung in und mit Berlin wie dem Beitrag für den Museumsinselwettbewerb (1994-97), der DZ Bank am Pariser Platz (1994-98) und dem Pierre Boulez Saal in der Barenboim-Said Akademie (2014-17) stehen im Fokus von Ausstellung und Buch.
