Preraffaelliti

Description

Saranno esposte in mostra circa ottanta opere realizzate da diciotto artisti preraffaelliti: tra queste, anche opere iconiche che difficilmente escono dal Regno Unito, come l'Ofelia di John Everett Millais, Amore d'aprile di Arthur Hughes, la Lady of Shalott di John William Waterhouse. Questi capolavori provenienti dalla Tate Britain racconteranno ai visitatori la poetica del movimento preraffaellita attraverso sezioni tematiche: dall'amore e dal desiderio alla fedeltà alla natura e alla sua fedele riproduzione; le storie medievali, la poesia, il mito, la bellezza in tutte le sue forme. Particolare risalto verrà dato all'impatto che il movimento artistico produsse sul modo di concepire l'arte, dimostrando come il fascino dei preraffaelliti sia ancora oggi straordinariamente attuale. Centrale sarà il tema della poetica degli artisti preraffaelliti, che deve all'arte e in generale alla cultura italiana pre-rinascimentale quell'idea di modernità medievale che la caratterizza. A testimoniarlo, saranno presenti dipinti su Dante Alighieri e il suo poema (Paolo e Francesca e Il sogno di Dante al tempo della morte di Beatrice di Dante Gabriel Rossetti) fino al paesaggio italiano tout court (Veduta di Firenze da Bellosguardo di John Brett). Palazzo Reale pays tribute to the art of the Pre-Raphaelites - Preraffaelliti, in Italian - with the exhibition "Preraffaelliti. Amore e Desiderio", analysing the art from the 19th-century artists and their impact on the Italian art production. The Pre-Raphaelites, an art movement born in England in 1848, have marked through their style English art of the Victorian era. The exhibition, powered in collaboration with the Tate Gallery in London features a selection of some of the most significant paintings by artists such as John Everett Millais, Arthur Hughes and John William Waterhouse. The masterpieces on display, which include John Everett Millais' Ofelia, John William Waterhouse's Lady of Shalott and Arthur Hughes' April Love, are divided into different sections such as "Medieval Moderns", "Truth to Nature", "Love and Desire", "Romance", "Myth". Particular attention is paid to the importance of "Italian" inspiration in the context of Pre-Raphaelite poetics. The typical themes explored, indeed, are particularly striking as they create a link between art and literature, as they include biblical stories, Dante Alighieri, Shakespeare, patriotism and social sensitivity.
