Ihre fundamentale Utopiekritik wird herausgearbeitet. Schließlich wird gezeigt, wie es Le Guin gelingt, wieder positive utopische Gesellschaftsentwürfe denkbar zu machen, was seit den dystopischen Anti-Utopien unmöglich schien. Es werden immer wieder die Einflüsse auf Le Guin deutlich: vor allem der pazifistische Anarchismus, der Taoismus und die Ethnologie.
