If you ask physicists what is so strange about quantum mechanics relative to classical mechanics, you might get different answers, but they would all boil down to the irreducibly probabilistic character of state descriptions in quantum mechanics: the dynamical variables of a quantum mechanical system (position, momentum, energy, spin, etc.) cannot all have determinate or 'sharp' values simultaneously - some dynamical variables must be indeterminate.
