La cosiddetta 'evoluzione' dell'arte, il percorso dal figurativo verso l'astrattismo e ad altre forme d'arte contemporanea, sono generalmente presentate come una sorta di 'evoluzionismo darwiniano', che avrebbe portato e porterebbe l'arte ad essere finalmente 'adulta', 'matura' e 'moderna'. Le riflessioni che propongo, intendono mettere a fuoco questa 'distorsione', ossia fare emergere come la supposta 'evoluzione' dell'arte, abbia non solo radici lontane, ma coincida principalmente con il formarsi lento e poi dilagante dell'abbandono della centralità della fede nell'arte e nel cuore dell'uomo.
