Description
Der Schweizer Farbwissenschaftler und -praktiker Aemilius Müller (1901-1989) veröffentlichte zahlreiche Farbatlanten (systematische Farbmustersammlungen), Farbtafeln und Schriften zur Farbtheorie. Im Einmannbetrieb führte er in Winterthur den Chromos-Verlag. Seine Bücher und Lehrmittel zur Farbwissenschaft erreichten zum Teil vierstellige Auflagezahlen; sie sind nicht nur für die Fachwelt interessant, sondern auch ästhetisch äusserst ansprechend. In der Wissenschaft ist Aemilius Müller besonders für seine Weiterentwicklung der Farblehre Wilhelm Ostwalds bekannt. Der Farbexperte Werner Spillmann hat Aemilius Müllers Farbwerke noch zu Müllers Lebzeiten erworben und Ausstellungen in Winterthur, Frankfurt a. M., New York und an weiteren Orten initiiert. In diesem reich illustrierten Band gibt er einen Überblick über Müllers weitläufiges Œuvre, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf dem eindrücklichen Spätwerk 'Ästhetik der Farbe' liegt. Einführende Texte ordnen Aemilius Müllers Schaffen in den Rahmen der Farbwissenschaften ein und richten den Blick auf das Leben dieser eigenwilligen Persönlichkeit im Spannungsfeld zwischen Kunstgewerbe und Wissenschaft.
