Das Buch erzählt anhand zahlreicher, zum Teil privater Fotografien und Dokumente den vielgestaltigen Lebensweg der Künstlerin. Vorgestellt werden sämtliche Werkgruppen aus 65 Jahren Schaffen der Zeichnerin, Fotografin, Objektkünstlerin und Performerin, darunter die Schnaken, Falter und Scheusale sowie die Installation Waschlappendemo und die Performance Klärschlamm-Charleston, mit denen die Künstlerin 1987 auf der documenta 8 in Kassel vertreten war.
