Une centaine d'oeuvres appartenant à une collection particulière sont données à voir, des dessins et tableaux de Man Ray, mais aussi des rayogrammes révélant la magie d'objets simplement posés sur un film sensible, des héliogravures et autres pièces expérimentales, ses deux premiers films notamment.0Ces oeuvres mettent en lumière les multiples facettes du travail d'un artiste foisonnant : la tentation dada qui le conduit, avec Marcel Duchamp, à "fabriquer" des images étranges : l'aventure de livres libres menée avec Paul Eluard : l' "inquiétante étrangeté" cultivée par la communauté surréaliste, et sa floraison d'objets détournés, rêvés, réinventés : enfin la quête de la liberté et du plaisir qui a irrigué toute la création du photographe.
