Die vorliegende als Dissertation an der Universitaet Kiel entstandene Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Alltagsleben der juedischen Minderheit in einer Region im nordwestdeutschen Raum zwischen 1750 und 1945. Dabei werden typische Zuege des nordwestdeutschen Kleinstadtjudentums herausgearbeitet wie der spaete Beginn juedischer Niederlassung, soziale Ueberlebensstrategien wie hohe Mobilitaet, Multiprofessionalität und Schaffung von Netzwerken, der soziale Aufstieg über 2-3 Generationen, Integration in die buergerliche Mittelschicht. Das Buch endet mit der Ausloeschung der juedischen Gemeinde im "Dritten Reich".
