First Sentence
Since it was ultimately at the hands of the Royal Air Force that the Messerschmitt Bf 109 met its match over south-eastern England in the autumn of 1940, a suitable starting point for this narrative is 4 May 1940 when Flight Lieutenant Hilly-Brown of No. 1 Sqn flew the Emil W.Nr 1304 across from France for performance trials at A&AEE Boscombe Down to be compared with a Spitfire, a Hurricane, a Curtiss Hawk 75A and a Gloster F5/34.
