Description
Le 24 mai 1871 éclate l'incendie des Tuileries, symbole d'un régime honni. En trois jours, le brasier fait disparaître le château voulu par Catherine de Médicis. Les ruines seront rasées en 1883 après un vote de l'Assemblée nationale. Ce magnifique palais renaît aujourd'hui grâce à cet ouvrage qui en restitue les grands décors, tout au long de son histoire, de Catherine de Médicis à Napoléon III. Sous la plume de spécialistes et à la faveur d'une illustration en partie inédite, on voit ici revivre cette splendide demeure royale et impériale.
