Description

This volume presents the first results of the work of the Syrian- French archaeological mission Qinnasrin, are made on the al- Hadir website (Syria, Aleppo area ), thanks to funding from the commission of the excavations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and european and laboratory " Medieval Islam " of the UMR & East Mediterranean. Al- Hadir was, in the seventh century, a hamlet dependent city Qinnasrin , eponymous capital of the administrative district of northern Syria . The issue of identification of al- Hadir with City Hadir Qinnasrin mentioned in the medieval texts is reviewed in the light of discoveries made in this area. The analysis of the general topography of the site and excavation areas is supplemented by contributions from specialists charge of the study of archaeological materials: ceramics, glass, objects, inscriptions, human and animal bones. These studies provide rare and unpublished information to the knowledge of the material culture of the beginnings of the Islamic era.
