Description

"My career as a gallerist began in California in 1973. Influenced by the rich cultural history of the Golden State, I was fascinated by the iconoclastic and distinctive works of the Post World War II artists. Sometimes echoing, but often divergent from the works being created in New York City, the works of Northern California artists were often robust, colorful, visionary, and even eccentric.. We at David Findlay Jr Gallery are pleased to have the opportunity to present a diverse selection of works by several of these remarkable California artists and to further explore the canon of mid-20th Century Modernism. This overview is part of our ongoing commitment to exhibit the works of these and other Post-Modern California artists who, in some cases have been underrepresented in New York. We strongly feel that these skillful works by San Francisco Bay Area artists will round out and creat an active conversation with the works of the East Coast Modern artists for which David Findlay Jr Gallery has been a long-noted advocate."
