Anhand einer Auswahl von rund 120 Gemälden, Skulpturen, Papierarbeiten und Glasobjekten untersucht dieser Band erstmals die bislang kaum beleuchteten Spuren des Barocks in der Kunst nach 1950. Charakteristische Arbeiten unterschiedlicher Stilrichtungen der Nachkriegskunst wie Informel, Abstraktion oder ZERO werden in Künstler*innen-Räumen barocken Kunstwerken gegenübergestellt.
