Une cinquantaine d'articles sont à caractère encyclopédique et comportent des illustrations abondantes: armures, crustacés, etc. La présentation est soignée et la lisibilité très bonne. Les articles comportent à l'occasion des informations telles que: étymologie et histoire du mot (en évidence dans la marge), synonyme, renvoi au modèle de conjugaison, etc. Au Québec, ce dictionnaire vient en concurrence (ou peut-être simplement en complémentarité) au dictionnaire scolaire ##Le petit Breton## (1990) qui accorde une large place au contexte du Québec.
