Description
The life of George Frederick Hanning Warnica (Wernecke), a bachelor Dane who immigrated to New York State in 1804. He settled at Manlius New York and neighbour to the Helmer family. Here he meets Mrs Helmer's widowed sister, Catherine Myers, nee Wolff and are married in 1806. Catherine, as an infant, was one of the few survivors of the Indian massacre of German Flatts in the Mowhawk Valley New York. After Catherine's husband, Captain Myers, not returning home and after a suitable time, marries George F.H. Warnica and raise four children, John, George, Joseph and William. In 1815 the family moves to Markham Ontario and on to Innisfil Township in 1823 where they purchased a 100 acre bush lot from John Stamm to eak out an existence.
