Description

The history of Napoleon written in Hebrew by a German Jew in 1821. The Ms. tells the story of Napoleon from his rise to his death and is introduced by a sketch of the French Revolution before Napoleon's rise to power. The author recalls items of Jewish interest, e.g. Robespierre's hostile attitude to the Jewish religion, the Assembly of the Notables, The Sanhedrin, etc. An autobiographical incident is also recorded of the author's arrest in Frankfurt by the French on the charge of being a German spy, and his release.
