Description
Interesting memior of the author's family and their relationship with noted playwright SN Behrman. The author's father had longterm friendship with Behrman which lasted until the pater killed himself. Behrman tried to come to grips with his friend's action in the pages of The New Yorker, his own memior, and a broadway play. Don Asher, the surviving son, begins his own friendship with Behrman. This volume is as much a remembrance of Behrman, as it is of anything else. Mr. Asher is a lively writer who had an eclectic career as a chemist, a jazz pianst, and writer. The book comes with a touch of melancholy as the son tries to deal with the legacy and perhaps the genetic taint of his father's insanity.
