De wet van 15 april 2018 tot hervorming van het ondernemingsrecht valt in de eerste plaats op door wat wordt afgeschaft: de handelaar, het Wetboek van Koophandel en de rechtbank van koophandel. Het ondernemingsbegrip dat in de plaats komt, werkt niet met een limitatieve lijst van daden van koophandel, maar omvat elke zelfstandige, elke privaatrechtelijke rechtspersoon en elke vennootschap. In dit boek wordt uiteraard niet alleen stilgestaan bij wat werd afgeschaft, maar gaat de aandacht uit naar wat nieuw is, zoals bv. de regels inzake het optreden van organisaties zonder rechtspersoonlijkheid. Daarnaast worden enkele klassieke leerstukken opgefrist naar aanleiding van de uitbreiding van het toepassingsgebied ervan.
