Description
"It is the responsibility of the Forest Service (FS) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as Federal land management agencies through implementation of the Clean Water Act (CWA), to protect and restore the quality of public waters under their jurisdiction. Protecting water quality is addressed in several sections of the CWA, including sections 303, 313, and 319. Best Management Practices (BMPs) are used to meet water quality standards (or water quality goals and objectives) under Section 319. Waterbodies that do not meet water quality standards with implementation of existing management measures are listed as impaired under section 303( d) of the CWA"--Page 1.
