Mathurin Méheut (1882-1958) a mis son art au service de la beauté du vivant, et a peint avec une égale passion côtes et campagnes. Il a conçu d’exceptionnelles planches pour « L'Etude de la forêt » en 1927, présentant végétaux des sous-bois, fougères, lichens, et les arbres dans leurs détails graphiques et poétiques. Ce livre, publié initialement en lien avec l'exposition "En forêt" présentée au Musée Mathurin Méheut (Lamballe, France, du 06 avril 2019 au 04 janvier 2020), réunit plus d'une centaine d'œuvres et propose le regard complémentaire d'une critique d'art et d'un forestier. Un livre « nature » en même temps qu'un nouvel opus sur un pan méconnu de l'œuvre du grand artiste.
