Description
The book is based on the exhibition 'Finnish Architects - Gazing upon Greece', which displayed the work of five architects who travelled to Greece in search of inspiration and made sketches of their journey or took photographs.0Although geographically, northern Finland and southern Greece seem to be light years apart, they are in fact much closer than you imagine. This is demonstrated by Finnish architects of the 19th and 20th centuries who traveled to Greece? G.T.C. Chiewitz (1815-1862), Jacob Ahrenberg (1847-1914), Usko Nyström (1861-1925), Hilding Ekelund (1893-1984) and Alvar Aalto (1898-1976)? to study classical Greek architecture. Using the latter as a model for their projects, these architects have highlighted their relationship with Antiquity, but also with modern architecture.00Exhibition: Museum Benaki Pireos, Athens, Greece (13.01. - 12.02.2017).
