Die Ausstellung stellt das Werk des Comic-Künstlers und Zeichentrickpioniers Winsor McCay (1869 - 1934) vor, dem bisher weder in seinem Heimatland, den USA , noch im deutschsprachigen Raum je eine retrospektive Ausstellung gewidmet war. McCay ist einer der wichtigsten Zeichner des 20. Jahrhunderts, der das noch junge Medium der Comics maßgeblich geprägt hat. Innovative Bildfindungen, cinematographische Perspektiven und surrealistische Inhalte prägen das Werk und sind bis heute unerreicht geblieben. Nicht zuletzt seine explizite und umfangreiche Auseinandersetzung mit menschlichen Manien, Träumen und Alpträumen in seinen beiden Hauptserien "Little Nemo in Slumberland" (ab 1905) und "Dream of the Rarebit Fiend" (ab 1904) macht sein Werk der bildenden Kunst seiner Zeit ebenbürtig.0Exhibition: Museum Burg Wissem, Troisdorf, Germany (15.1.-4.3.2012).
