Der mittelrheinische Stilpluralismus zwischen 1400 und 1500 entwickelte, verdichtete und vernetzte sich insbesondere im Austausch mehrerer urbaner Zentren der Region ? etwa Mainz, Heidelberg, Speyer, Frankfurt und Koblenz. Gleichzeitig spielten externe Einflüsse umliegender Kunstzentren eine grosse Rolle. Dieses Phänomen ist auch als Ergebnis des 'Kunsttransfers ' zu bewerten. Im vorliegenden Band werden Fragen der Formgenese, etwa in der Malerei, Glasmalerei, Skulptur und Architektur, an aktuelle Überlegungen der internationalen Kulturtransferforschung angebunden.
